Enzo Fernandez Agrees Personal Terms with Real Madrid as Contract Details Emerge

According to a report by the Football London on Thursday, June 18, 2026, Enzo Fernandez appears closer than ever to leaving Chelsea, with reports claiming the Argentine midfielder has already agreed personal terms with Real Madrid. The 25-year-old remains one of the biggest talking points during the current transfer window, despite being focused on representing Argentina at the 2026 World Cup in North America.

Fernandez has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for much of the year, and his previous comments about wanting to play for Real Madrid created tension during his time under former Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior. Those remarks resulted in a two-match suspension, but interest from the Spanish giants has continued to grow.

Chelsea have made their position clear by placing a huge valuation on their midfielder, reportedly demanding a fee of at least £120 million. However, recent developments suggest Real Madrid are now actively pushing forward with their plans to bring him to Spain.

According to transfer journalist Nicolo Schira, Madrid have reached an agreement with Fernandez over personal terms on a contract that would keep him at the club until 2032. The La Liga giants are now expected to submit their opening proposal to Chelsea, although it remains uncertain whether they will match the Blues’ asking price.

Real Madrid have already moved quickly in the market, securing deals for players such as Marc Cucurella and Ibrahima Konate, and new head coach Xabi Alonso is now looking to strengthen his midfield options. Fernandez is believed to be one of the club’s main targets.

A potential departure would leave Chelsea with a major challenge, especially after failing to secure European football following a 10th-place Premier League finish. Replacing a player of Fernandez’s quality could prove difficult, both financially and in terms of attracting top-level talent.

Since arriving from Benfica in a then-record £106.8 million transfer, Fernandez has made 169 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 31 goals and creating 30 assists. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he helped the club win the 2024-25 UEFA Conference League and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
