After an elderly woman was allegedly attacked and sexually raped inside a care facility in the early hours of New Year’s Day, police have detained a suspected intruder.
Just before 3 a.m., the event took place at a care facility in Shaw, Oldham, Greater Manchester, following complaints of an unauthorised man being seen there.
Following additional claims that the resident had suffered a major sexual assault and assault, police confirmed that an elderly woman had been transported to the hospital.
A guy, age 21, was detained for additional interrogation after being arrested on the spot.
Superintendent Phillip Hutchinson told the Manchester Evening News: “Specialist officers are currently supporting the victim and her loved ones at what is undoubtedly a difficult and distressing time, and they are assisting with our investigation.

“We understand the effect this will have on residents, families, and staff at the care home and the wider community.
“We have deployed a number of uniformed officers and specialist officers to scene and the local area to ensure this incident is investigated thoroughly and provide reassurance to the residents, their loved ones, and the local community.
“Alongside our criminal investigation, we are working with Oldham Council and partner agencies to ensure the safeguarding and security of residents.”
