Arsenal sealed their place in the Carabao Cup final with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chelsea in the second leg of their semi-final, completing a 4-2 aggregate win over their London rivals.
The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time when Kai Havertz struck in the 90+7th minute, breaking Chelsea hearts and sending the Emirates Stadium into celebration.
Despite trailing 3-2 on aggregate, Chelsea controlled much of the ball, enjoying 55 per cent possession compared to Arsenal’s 45 per cent. The visitors registered 11 shots to Arsenal’s six, with both sides managing two efforts on target.
However, Chelsea struggled to convert their dominance into goals, with Arsenal’s defence holding firm throughout the contest.
Chelsea also earned more corner kicks, recording five compared to Arsenal’s two, and delivered more crosses into the box. Yet their attacking intent was frequently disrupted by disciplined defending and timely interceptions from the home side.
The match saw a physical edge, with Arsenal committing 11 fouls and Chelsea eight. Chelsea picked up three yellow cards, while Arsenal escaped with just one booking, reflecting the intensity of the encounter as both teams battled for a place in the final.
With this victory, Arsenal advance to the Carabao Cup final, where they will face the winner of the other semi-final between Manchester City and Newcastle United, scheduled for 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4.
