
Just weeks after tragedy befell Nollywood actor, Chris Attoh another close to the heart of veteran filmmaker, Emem Isong has kicked the bucket.

Emem Isong reportedly lost her dad which add to the number of tragic woes that the Nigerian movie industry has encountered this year. Emem Isong in an aggrieved state took to her Instagram page to announce his demise. Emem Isong expressed her grief saying that one can never be prepared for the loss of their parent. Irrespective of the condition or circumstances at which they’re in, ill or not, the thought of losing them, in the long run, can be painful. Emem added that her heart was broken.
She also expressed gratitude to God for a life well spent adding that her father had gone home to rest.

Emem Isong was born on September 5th in her hometown of Ikono, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. She is a veteran Nigerian screenplay writer, film producer, and director. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Calabar. She also has a diploma in Computer Science from the Computer Science Institute (NCR).

Emem combines the rich cultural roots of the Ibibio people and her degree in Theater arts to churn out some of the best scripts that have come out of Nollywood. Describing her movie production style, Emem says, ”I am dramatic. I love dramatic events and I don’t want a situation where you predict what would happen next.”

Emem founded the Royal Arts Academy in 2010, and she is presently the academy’s CEO. The Academy’s interest is in raising young and talented film creators and producers with the best tools available. In 2018, she started her own clothing line tagged Apple Pine Clothiers which focuses on African Fashion especially several clothings in prints (Ankara).

- Won ZAFAA Awards, in the category of Best Producer for the movie Memories of my Heart (2010)
- Won Eloy Awards, Best Movie Producer of the Year for I’ll Take My Chances (2011)
- Won Best of Nollywood, Special Recognition Award;
- Won Nigeria’s Integrity Film Awards(HomeVida) in the category Family/ Child-Friendly Category for the movie Knocking on the Heavens Door (2014)

- Won Africa Movie Awards in the category of Best Scriptwriter for the movie Reloaded (2008)
- Won City Peoples Award in the categories of Best Producer of the Year, and Best Screenplay for the movie Reloaded (2008)
