In Ibadan, Oyo State, enraged locals lynched a guy they believed to be a serial armed robber and rapist.
According to reports, a band of thieves has been harassing the local residents in Apete, Ido Local Government Area, for several weeks.
On Wednesday, April 5, at around 4 am, one of the alleged armed robbers was apprehended during an operation in the Adagbada Arola neighbourhood of Apete.
The claimed armed robber forcedfully allegedly grabbed two women’s cell phones and an undisclosed sum of money. He attempted to rape one of them while holding the other captive inside a bathroom.
The one locked in the toilet managed to escape and alerted neighbours who then proceeded to lynch the suspect.
The case was later brought to the attention of police officers from Apete Divisional Headquarters on Wednesday.
The corpse was recovered by the police and taken to Adeoyo state hospital.
