Buba announced his resignation in a letter to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, which he also posted on his verified Facebook page on Saturday.
Mahmud Sadis Buba, also known as Al-Ajabin Zazzau, has withdrawn from the campaign to represent Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives due to ongoing controversy over suspected age falsification and forgery charges surrounding his candidature.
Buba announced his resignation in a letter to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, which he also posted on his verified Facebook page on Saturday.
In the letter, he stated that the decision, while tough, became necessary after conversations with party stakeholders and reconciliation efforts inside the APC.
“Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am withdrawing from the race for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, effective immediately,” he wrote.
He added: “This was not an easy decision. But it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party. Consequently, after extensive consultations with my family, political associates, and stakeholders within our great party, I have decided that this decision is in the best interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Buba stated that the action was intended to strengthen party unity ahead of the general elections, emphasising that backing a consensus candidate was critical to the APC’s victory.
“I believe that uniting behind a single candidate is paramount to our victory in the general election and for the continued progress of our constituency and state,” he stated.
He also thanked Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and the APC leadership for the opportunity to participate in the primaries, characterising the experience as enriching.
Buba emphasised that his departure was not a sign of weakness, but rather a sacrifice for party unity, and that he was still dedicated to the APC and would support the ultimate nominee.
