According to a video posted on TYT on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, former Presidential aspirants of the Democratic Party Cenk Uygur said intelligence provided by Israel ahead of the war with Iran was inaccurate, continuing a pattern he said has repeated in past conflicts.
The comment was part of a wider discussion on a Wall Street Journal report detailing internal debate inside the Trump administration before military action against Iran began.
The segment opened with co-host Ana Kasparian reviewing new reporting that former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard had warned Trump that striking Iran’s supreme leader could lead to a more hardline government, closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and retaliation against American forces in the region.
Kasparian said each of those warnings came true, and that Gabbard is no longer serving in the role.
Uygur used this context to describe how Israel had pushed for American involvement in the conflict while providing information that did not match how events actually unfolded.
In his words, Cenk Uygur said, “Israel asked us to start this war. They lied to us about their ability, our abilities, their abilities. All the intelligence they gave us was fake as always,” he said.
Kasparian followed by walking through the economic fallout of the war, including a sharp decline in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which fell to its lowest level since November 1982.
She cited comments from oil analyst Andy Lipow, who told CNBC that the market remains concerned about how long the reserve can keep being drawn down, along with tightening supplies of diesel and other refined products.
The program also referenced a JP Morgan report warning that global food prices could rise as much as five percent in the first half of 2027, a figure Kasparian tied to disruptions in fertilizer transit through the Strait of Hormuz and the Black Sea region.
