Gbemi Anjola, a 33-year-old rising star in Nollywood, passed away suddenly, sending the film industry into mourning.

Since 2021, Gbemi had been battling ovarian cancer. She underwent six months of chemotherapy in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and then returned to Nigeria after receiving the all-clear.

She unfortunately experienced memory loss and a headache on March 24, 2023, and was taken to the hospital right afterwards; sadly, she passed away.

The colleagues of Gbemi Anjola, the likes of Itele and Zainab Balogun shared the news of her demise on their Instagram pages.

Nollywood stars such as Nkechi Blessing, Kunle Afod, Biodun Okeowo, and others expressed their condolences in the comments section.
