Aliko Dangote, a well-known billionaire, arrived in Lagos State penniless but is now the richest man in Africa, according to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
This was said by Babajide Samwo-Olu at the commissioning of the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals, the largest single-train refinery in the world, in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
“Dangote came to Lagos with nothing about 45 years ago, but he is now Africa’s richest man,” he said.
According to Sanwo-Olu, Dangote has invested in the state and made important efforts to assure Nigeria’s and the state’s economic prosperity.
The governor of Lagos State made this statement in response to businessman and industrialist Aliko Dangote’s admiration of the state’s administration and President-elect H.E. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the Lekki Free Zone and ensuring the project’s success.
