Georgia State University has awarded Tylan Bailey, a remarkable 43-year-old American who previously worked as a janitor at one of Georgia’s high schools, his degree.
In DeKalb County, Georgia, the United States, Tylian Bailey spent 24 of his brief life working as the Hightower Elementary School custodian. But after some time spent working, he was able to follow his dream of becoming a teacher.
At the age of 40, Bailey enrolled at Georgia State University in the United States to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and a minor in special education.
“I always wanted to be a college graduate. I always wanted to be a teacher. So having everything sink in at that moment was the best feeling I could ever have,” Bailey shared with WSBTV.
Bailey completed coursework at Georgia State University’s College of Education & Human Development in order to pursue the teacher education program. After three years of mixing academic education with janitorial job, Bailey accomplished his goal at the age of 43.
