2027: ‘They created the hunger’ — Tinubu slams opponents at Kaduna rally

President Bola Tinubu has attributed the hunger and poverty in Nigeria to his political opponents, maintaining that his government is taking steps to tackle the problems.

He made the remarks on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off rally held at the Ranchers Bees Stadium, also known as Kaduna Township Stadium, in Kaduna State, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I have an argument. I hear my opponent talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” the president said.

He also defended his administration’s track record on salary payments and praised state governors for their performance, saying they were recording progress in their respective states.

“We pay salaries regularly. Our governors are working. I am proud of them. They are developing,” Tinubu said.

The president expressed gratitude to Kaduna residents for backing him in the last presidential election, noting that their votes helped secure his emergence as president.

“You gave me joy to remember the victory you gave me to become president. I come again to thank you,” he said.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to grant him a second term, saying he wanted to sustain his pledges of prosperity, continuity, progress and development.
