In place of her polling unit’s results sheet, an Abia State presiding officer posted a selfie to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing (IReV) webpage.
On Monday, February 27, journalist Jaafar Jaafar made this announcement over Twitter.
In order to allow real-time transmission of election results from polling places to the central collation centre, INEC developed the (IReV) platform.
Its goals were to make the electoral process more transparent and to make vote-rigging and election manipulation less common.
