Final year student commits suicide in Gombe ‘over being broke despite having a rich father’

Nalkur Zwalnan Lar, a final-year student at the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, killed himself on November 24’s Wednesday night.

The student from the Faculty of Education who committed suicide in the Santuraki neighborhood of Kashere town initially ingested poison, but when it didn’t work right away, he climbed a tree and hanged himself.

According to Daily Trust, Lar left behind a suicide note in which he thanked his older brothers for all of their support and asked his mother, whom he referred to as the best mother in the world, to take it easy.

He named the people to whom he owed money and explained how they may get their money back.

According to him, he doesn’t know the meaning of life as he can’t afford a smart phone of N50,000 even though his father has millions. 

He also tendered apology to some persons simply identified as Favour and Comfort.

FUK’s Head of Information and Protocol, Suleyman Malami Ahmed, who confirmed the incident, said the university would make details of its investigation public after its been concluded.
