A 17-year-old step daughter (name withheld), has told the Lagos state police operatives at Adeniji Adele Division, Lagos Island, ordered his men, under the leadership of Inspector Aderinto Foluke, to arrest the man and his wife.
Whereas, the man was charged at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge in the charge marked, TC/58/2021, bordering on having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 17-year-old stepdaughter, his wife was charged at the same court on a two-count in the charge marked TC/18/2022 for procuring an abortion for her daughter.
The violation was committed by the husband and wife at 52, Fagbayi Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, according to Police Prosecuting Attorney, Inspector Koti Aondohemba.
While the husband was detained for sexually assaulting her stepdaughter and inducing two pregnancies, Aondohemba told the court that the wife was detained for covering up the incident and helping to induce abortions.
The man’s plea was not accepted, and Magistrate A.T. Omoyele ordered the police to copy his case file and send it to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal counsel on the matter.
The judge also ordered that the defendant be held at the Ikoyi correctional facility while awaiting the DPP’s guidance.
Shade was given bail in the amount of N200, 000 with two sureties in the same amount, and the matter was adjourned until January 11, 2023, for mention.
Until the bail terms were satisfied, she further ordered that the defendant be held at the Kirikiri detention facility.
