lovely moment University of Cape Town’s vice chancellor paid a visit to the school library and gave children chocolates and encouraging remarks.

A touching moment when University of Cape Town Vice Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng surprised pupils in the school library with a surprise visit, chocolates and encouraging words, is captured in a viral video.

At 11 o’clock at night, the professor had been by the library to ask about people who were studying and to offer them chocolates.

The pupils were visibly moved by her gesture as she traveled from desk to desk in the video.

Mamokkgethi who posted the video on her LinkedIn profile on Tuesday, November 15 2022 wrote below;

“I went back to campus study spaces at around 11pm last night to give my students chocolates and words of encouragement as they prepare for their final exams. As usual, I was encouraged to find them hard at work”

“The university journey is not easy, much support and constant motivation is needed to push through! I am a mother before I am VC, so I will be there to give them the motivation they need to soldier on”
