The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been dared to “sack” Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for calling for “justice” from the party’s leadership.
According to POLITICS NIGERIA, Governor Wike made the challenge on Friday night while delivering remarks at a state dinner he hosted in honor of G-5 members who are in Port Harcourt to launch PDP campaigns in the state ahead of the general elections in 2023. On Saturday, the campaign flag-off took place.
Wike, Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Okezie Ikpeazu are the G-5 PDP governors.
“They say they will sack me. I have been looking for the day they will sack me. Then they sack me, I pepper you. You will know that khaki no be leather,” Wike said.
Also speaking at the event, Governor Ortom declared that the position of the PDP G-5 Governors is to ensure that the interest of all members of the party was protected.
“Let me reiterate the commitment of the G-5. We are committed to ensuring equity, fairness, and justice for all Nigerians.
“We believe in the rule of law and due process. Whatever is happening in the party now, is for us to ensure that every member of PDP is protected,” Ortom said.
Ortom also hinted that the group is not opposed to reconciliation but insisted that “the reconciliation must be based on equity, fairness, and justice. Anything less than that will not be accepted by us.”
