Tinubu says those criticising him for choosing Shettima wanted to be his running mate

Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), claims that people who are criticizing him for picking Kashim Shettima as his running mate are doing so because they also wanted the post but were denied the chance.

According to Tinubu, some of the people who criticized his decision to pick Shettima as his running mate were his close friends who he rejected.

He revealed this in an interactive meeting with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) leadership in Abuja, which was presided over by Archbishop Daniel Ukoh.

Former Secretary of the Government of the Federation and close Tinubu ally Babachir Lawal had denounced the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC. It was “a disastrous error,” he said.

Also, an erstwhile Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, urged Christians to vote against the APC following Tinubu’s decision to settle for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Speaking during the session, Tinubu said: “People have reacted harshly to my selection. They are my friends, they lobbied me and wanted to be my running mate but I bluntly rejected them.”
