After her spouse blew all the house rent she had saved, a banker filed for divorce.
On Monday, November 14, Mrs. Justine Ojo took her husband Eneku into a Jikwoyi Abuja customary court.
Justine, who resides in Nyanya, Abuja, claimed that ever since she and her husband were wed, they had been residing in her husband’s brother’s home.
She gradually collected money, which she then provided to her husband to rent an apartment of their own for a year.
However, the landlord gave them a notice to vacate their home six months after they had moved in, and she soon realized her husband had only paid for six months’ worth of rent.
When she confronted her husband, she claims he beat her up and would have killed her if she had not scaled the fence at night to escape.
She says she has been the only one providing since they got married as her husband has no job.
She prayed the court to dissolve the marriage and grant her custody of their child.
The respondent, Eneku denied the allegation.
The judge, Malam Labaran Gusau, adjourned the matter until November 16, for a hearing.
