In Limpopo, South Africa, a 24-year-old lady has been detained on suspicion of killing her lover with a knife.
Following an incident of domestic violence that happened in Marapong Township, Lephalale, on Saturday night, September 10, 2022, the Suspect is accused of killing her partner.
The incident was confirmed by police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malesela Ledwaba on Monday, September 12. She named the suspect as Emmy Serumula in the statement.
“The Police were summoned to Marapong Health Care Center at 21h37 about a man who was brought to the center after having been stabbed and on arrival, they found a man lying dead with stab wound. A case of murder was then opened and policing commenced with investigations,” He Stated.
“Preliminary investigation indicated that the deceased and his alleged girlfriend had an altercation while at Marapong Extension 1 and during the argument, the suspect stabbed the deceased with a sharp object. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed to the injuries. He was intentified as Charles Kamogelo aged 24 from Mafikeng.
“The Woman, identified as Emmy Serumula (pictured), was traced and arrested. She appeared in Lephalale magistrate court today facing a charge of murder and the case was postponed to 19 September for bail application.”
No one will be spared or given a pass when it comes to issues of gender-based violence, according to Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo.
