Headies: BNXN fka Buju Receives Next Rated Award ahead of Ruger; goes home with a 2022 Bentley

The Next Rated Artiste category at the 2022 Headies award ceremony was won by Nigerian Afro-fusion artist Daniel Benson, also known as BNXN fka Buju.

In the wee hours of Monday, September 5, the 15th iteration of the award event, with the theme “Join the Movement,” took place at the Cobbs Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.

Many excellent performers were nominated in the Next Rated category, which is regarded as one of the most competitive in the awards presentation because to the caliber of performers vying to win the honor and the corresponding automobile incentive.

Ayra Starr, Buju, Ruger, Zinoleesky, Lojay, and Portable, all signed to Mavin Record, were this year’s candidates. Portable, however, was disqualified due to his disruptive behavior.

Buju, however, defeated the competition to earn the Next Rated accolade. Additionally, he drove home in a brand-new 2022 Bentley Bentayga.

He gave the honor to Peggy, his ex-girlfriend, and his late mother.

Due to recent internet teasing between Buju and Ruger over who has the most popular songs, Buju’s victory has drawn amusing responses. ICYMI

It all began when Buju, who just released his most recent studio album, “Bad Since ’97,” took to Twitter to proclaim that it was the number-one record.

Ruger figured out that Buju was throwing a shade at him because the line “What if I, What if I, What if I” is from his recently released single “Girlfriend”, and fired back at him.

The star pointed out that Buju doesn’t have a solo hit song as most of his hit songs are featured, and fat-shamed him.

“Get a solo hit then talk to me fatty bum bum”, Ruger tweeted.

Responding, Buju fired back at Ruger while still gushing over his Number One spot on the chart.

“Project #1 and I didn’t have to whine my waist he replied.
