EU to convene meeting as soon as possible over “energy war” with Russia

The Czech government said on Friday that EU energy ministers will convene as soon as possible for an urgent meeting to consider emergency measures. The European Council is presently being presided over by the Czech Republic.

The Czech presidency will call an immediate conference of energy ministers to consider specific emergency steps to handle the energy situation, according to Petr Fiala, the country’s prime minister.

Jozef Skela, the minister of industry and commerce for the Czech Republic, tweeted on Friday, “We are in an energy war with Russia and it is harming the entire European Union.”
