A recent YouTube video depicts the murderer Uduak Frank Akpan’s attempt to flee after an Akwa Ibom State high court condemned him to death by hanging for the murder of the late Iniubong Umoren.
In a video shot by BBC News Pidgin, police officers can be seen around the location where Uduak attempted to flee after being sentenced. Police personnel are seen securing the area as he is captured and shoved into a van.
To hang Uduak Frank Akpan, the initial suspect in the murder of job seeker Iniubong Umoren.
On Thursday, August 4, Justice Bassey Nkanang, the trial judge, condemned Akpan to death by hanging and life in prison for the two murder and rape accusations that had been brought against him.
However, the court released and cleared his sister Anwan Bassey and father Frank Akpan, the second and third accused, who were accused of being an accessory to murder.
Remember that on April 29, 2021, Akpan lured the dead, a 26-year-old University of Uyo (UNIUYO) alumna with a phony job interview, killed her, and buried her remains in a pit in his father’s backyard.
Ms. Umoren was officially declared deceased on April 30 and was laid to rest on Friday at her village of Nung Ita, Ikot Essien, in the Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Akpan, meanwhile, asserted in a news interview that he killed his victim in self-defense.
In his less than compelling version of events, Frank claimed that Ini assaulted him, he struck her in self-defense, and the strike ultimately killed her.
