The suspect in the murder of Lilia Valutyte, 9, made his initial court appearance.
After being accused of murder, Deividas Skebas, 22, was remanded into custody at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court.
During a brief appearance in court this morning, he simply spoke to confirm his name, date of birth, and residence.
Beata Sapuskaite, 23, Skebas’ ex-girlfriend, said that he comes from a “high class” family in Lithuania.
She says he traveled to England to work “farm labor” and make money.
On Thursday in Boston, Lincolnshire, Lilia was fatally stabbed while she and her sister were playing with a hula hoop outside a café.
“This is a terrible case that has affected many people in Boston and elsewhere
With such a tragic situation, there was a need to devote a lot of resources to the inquiry and interact with Bostonians, who were understandably horrified by Lilia’s passing.
Our officers have been out in the community talking to people and hearing their worries. Over the next few days, we’ll continue to be really present.
Finally, I’d like to extend my thanks once again to the public and the media, who have provided help in a challenging and fast-moving case.
Your support is appreciated by our officers and staff,” Chief Superintendent Martyn Parker said.
