On Tuesday, July 26, highway robbers ambushed a bullion van carrying money that two people, including a staff member of a new generation bank, were accompanying from Aba to Umuahia.
The Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway’s Ntigha intersection was the scene of the attack by the daredevil robbers.
He explained that as the bank’s cash officer tried to flee for his life with the billion van, the thieves shot and killed him. Three police officers who were accompanying the van were hurt during the gunfire exchange and were brought to the hospital, according to the PPRO.
Ogbonna claimed that the thieves, who escaped after one of them was neutralized, had an AK-47 weapon with three filled magazines strapped together.
The PPRO appealed to hospitals in the state to report patients in their facilities with bullet wounds for interrogation and investigation.
