On Friday, July 22, the Adamawa State Police Command arrested a 20-year-old housewife for fatally stabbing her 38-year-old husband.
According to DSP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesman for the state police, the suspect, identified as Caroline Barka, a resident of Angwan Tamiya, Madagali local government Area, got into an argument with her deceased husband, Barka Dauda, following his return home after drinking too much and falling on their one-year-old child who was in bed.
”Angered by his drunkenness, habitual late nights and failure to provide basic necessity as a Husband, the Suspect and the deceased engaged themselves in a fight which resulted to her stabbing the Husband. As a result he fell down unconscious and was later rushed to the Hospital where he was confirmed dead.”the statement in part read.
Nguroje further stated that the suspect was detained by the police at the Madagali Local Government as a result of information obtained from a deceased relative.
He said that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) has been instructed by the state’s chief of police, CP S K Akande, to take charge of the investigation and ensure that the suspect is charged appropriately.
