Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, will announce their running mates for the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 14, respectively, barring any last-minute alterations.
Tinubu’s meetings with APC governors are expected to end on Tuesday, June 14, and he will announce his running mate on Wednesday, according to sources.
According to party sources, the governors and other stakeholders have also decided that the party’s Vice Presidential candidate should come from the NorthEast. Tinubu may choose a Muslim to be his running mate.
On the other side, Atiku is set to announce his running mate on Tuesday. However, it is unclear from which side of the religious divide he will choose his running mate.
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had earlier set June 17 as the deadline for all political parties to submit their presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2023 general elections.
