Two men arraigned in court for allegedly impregnating and procuring abortion for a 13-year-old girl

Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje of the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has remanded two men, Sakiru Oladosu, 50, and Tola Rasaq, 40, for defiling and impregnating a 13-year-old girl.

The two suspects, who also brought the girl for an illegal abortion when she became pregnant, live in Lagos’ Mushin neighborhood.

They were charged with defilement and illicit procurement of abortion, which carry life sentences and three years in jail, respectively, under Lagos State’s Criminal Law of 2015.

Addressing the court, the prosecuting counsel, DSP Kehinde Ajayi said the defendants committed the offences in February at Odusanmi Street, Mushin, Lagos. Oladosu reportedly lured the teenager to his house, defiled her and impregnated her.

Ajayi said; 

 “The defendant took the girl on April 3, to an undisclosed pharmacy on Ashofin Street, Okareju Mushin area in Lagos.

“Oladosu conspired with Rasaq to pay N4,000 to unlawfully administer an injection to abort the pregnancy.”

Magistrate Kubeinje did not take their pleas and ordered that they should be kept at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending advice of the state Director of Public Prosecutions.

The case was adjourned till July 7, 2022, for mention.
