BREAKING: Two Presidential Aspirants Step Down For Osinbajo

Former Senate President Ken Nnamani and two other presidential contenders have stood down in favor of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) holds its national convention.

Kabiru Gaya, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), revealed this to Channels Television on Tuesday in Abuja.

Although he did not name the other candidates, it is widely assumed that they are ex-Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun and Senate Deputy Majority Leader Ajayi Boroffice.

He noted that the hopefuls are scheduled to address the delegates shortly, noting that the ruling party has opted to zone the presidential post to the South-West region.

“It comes down to the South-West; we have Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Bola Tinubu.” I’m aware that a few candidates for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have withdrawn their candidacy. Ken Nnamani and two others are among them. He stated, “I believe that will be announced later.”

“Whatever the number the party decides;  it is up for because the people need to come and address the party members and tell them if they are stepping down, why are they stepping down, and for who. If they are not stepping down, let them tell Nigerians what they intend to do to improve the situation in the governance of Nigeria.”
