After leading authorities on a short chase, the Nigerian man wanted for shooting his wife and killing her mother in Texas, US, shot and killed himself.

Deputies were called to a shooting on Aldine Westfield Road and found two women who had been shot in the head. Obinna Dwayne Igbokwe, 41, was declared wanted.

Igbokwe shot his wife, Tangela Igbokwe, following a disagreement over custody of their 3-month-old kid Mansa, according to deputies.

Tangela was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, but her mother, Linda Larkins, was confirmed dead on the scene.

Obinna and his kid fled the scene of the gunshots in a 2008 white Honda Accord with the registration plate #KMY 0702.

Authorities reported that after midnight, the Corsicana Police Department called Montgomery County deputies and informed them that they had the newborn, Mansa, in their custody, according to an amended release from the sheriff’s office.

According to Corsicana police, a guy left the youngster in a car seat at a local hotel and promised to return shortly, but never did.

Corsicana police were notified after the man failed to return, and they discovered he left in a white automobile that matched the description of the vehicle Obinna was suspected to be driving.

At about 1:05 a.m., officers with the Ennis Police Department located Obinna’s white Honda and tried to stop him.

After a short chase, the Honda stopped in a parking lot, where officers said they heard one gunshot come from inside the car.

Police said they tried to save the suspect’s life and called for medical help, but he died at a Dallas hospital at about 5:20 a.m.
