Manchester United to hand Erik ten Hag £200m to buy new players

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s next coach, is expected to be given £200 million to spend on signings this summer, with up to 12 players expected to leave the club.

Manchester United has also agreed on a £2.5 million compensation package with Ajax for Erik ten Hag and his assistant Mitchell van der Gaag, according to Sky Sport.

According to the article, around 12 players are anticipated to leave the club this summer, allowing the Dutch manager to spend £200 million on new acquisitions.

This comes after Manchester United named the Ajax manager as their next manager at the end of the season, replacing interim Ralf Rangnick.

The 52-year-old agreed to a three-year contract with a one-year extension option.

He told United’s website: “It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead.

“I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve.

“It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years, and I can assure our fans of my complete commitment and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United.”
