Assistant Police Commissioner in Bayelsa State slumps and dies on duty post

On Tuesday, April 19, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Idowu Asufi, died while on duty.

On Tuesday, Asufi, who was at the office, had attended an official function before returning to his office, where he was claimed to have collapsed and died before help arrived.

The deceased, who was in his late 50s and a native of Delta State’s Ekwani community, was the State Police Command’s Director of Administration.

Asinim Butswat, a spokesman for the Bayelsa Police Command, confirmed ACP Asufi’s death. Asufi also served as Chief Security Officer to the Bayelsa Government House during the administration of former governor Henry Seriake Dickson, according to Butswat.

He also served as Commander of the State Security Outfit, Door Akpor.
