Kidnappers in Taraba refuse to release pregnant woman in labour, demand ransom

Kidnappers in Taraba State have demanded a ransom from the family of a pregnant woman who went into labor while being held captive.

The 9-month-pregnant woman, as well as six other people, including Sharabilu Maaji Bala, were kidnapped in Jalingo, according to reports.

The abductors stormed the Primary Board Area in Jalingo at 3 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, and abducted the victims, according to the Daily Trust.

The expectant woman from Kano State was claimed to have gone on maternity leave to see her parents.

The shooters also targeted three houses in the region and operated for roughly 40 minutes, according to reports.

However, the kidnappers called the father of the abducted pregnant woman and demanded immediate ransom, saying the woman had fallen into labour.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the abduction of the pregnant woman and six others but did not give details.

Meanwhile, a Facebook user, Abba Gana shared a photo of his sister who was among those kidnapped.
