In a horrifying incident while swimming off the coast of Thailand, a tourist was gruesomely impaled in the neck by a foot-long needlefish.
When Noppadol Sringam was impaled in his neck while swimming with companions at the famed Ao Tan Khu beach in the southeastern region, he was a popular tourist destination.
On March 31, at 1 p.m. local time, an accident occurred.
He was photographed laying in a hospital bed with the fish still lodged in his neck.
Witnesses said they saw Noppadol scream hysterically for help from the ocean before a heroic passerby waded out and brought him back to shore.
He was then given first aid before being rushed to the local hospital in Trat.
This is the first time a needlefish has been seen in Ao Tan Khu.
Local official Suchart Jitmungmanotham has urged visitors to take extra caution while swimming in the areas and more officers have been posted around the beach to ensure safety.
