“We killed my cousin because his family refused to pay ransom” – Kidnap suspect confesses in Plateau

Suleiman Ibrahim, a 20-year-old alleged kidnapper, has admitted to conspiring with members of a kidnapping gang to murder his cousin, Najahid Abdullahi, when the victim’s family refused to pay a ransom for his release.

When the suspect was paraded at the Plateau State Police Command headquarters, he confessed.

They kidnapped the victim on a motorcycle and took him to their hideout, according to Suleiman, and when the ransom was not paid, they decided to kill him.

The suspect expressed regret for his actions and stated that this was his first time kidnapped for ransom.

“Initially, five of us planned the kidnapping but the remaining ones fled. I was the only one arrested. We asked for the ransom and the money was not given. I have never done it before. This is my first time of engaging in the business,” the suspect said.

“The victim was my cousin and has been buried. I wasn’t in my right senses. I was drunk but I am regretting the action now. I will never do it again.”
