Passengers aboard a commercial bus traveling from Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, to Lagos were kidnapped on Tuesday in Isiala Mbano, Imo State, by unknown gunmen.
According to our source, the event that occurred on Odo Rubber Road in Obiohuru, in the state’s Isiala Mbano Local Government Neighborhood, sparked tension in the area.
The passengers were on their way to Government Akwa Ibom State in a bus when the gunmen attacked and kidnapped them away, leaving the vehicle and luggage behind.
“No one knows where they were transported to,” a neighborhood source informed our correspondent. When the residents saw the bus on Tuesday in the isolated Odo Rubber area, it was still steaming. Passengers’ cellphones and luggage were intact.
The car was pushed out of the lonely road and turned over to the cops.
Dr Sharon Ohaka, the community’s President-General, told our correspondent on the phone on Wednesday that the youths had pushed the bus off the lonely road. He also revealed that the police had been welcomed by the community.
“The truck had been forced out of the lonely road,” he explained. At Ishiebu, we’ve invited the police at the area command level as well as the divisional headquarters. They’ve taken control of the vehicle, as well as the occupants’ belongings and the inquiry.
