How 5 DSS Helped Me Kidnapped My Victim – Suspect

At the weekend, a suspect, Akeem Ogunnibi, 42, admitted to kidnapping one businessman in Sabo, identified as Bala, with the support of Department of State Security officers.

The victim, a bureau de change operator in Osogbo, said that he was taken away from his office by gun-wielding individuals on December 30, 2021, approximately 5:30 p.m., according to the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode.

According to the Olokode, the victim was transported to a bush trail along Ilesa road and demanded ransom before being released; however, when he was searched, he was found to be missing N204,000 and abandoned at the location.

However, Ogunnibi revealed that he was aided in removing the businessman by certain personnel from the Department of State Security with whom he was familiar.

“Bala (the victim) is a buddy; he underpaid for a gold necklace he bought from my brothers, and when I challenged him, his answer did not satisfy me, so I decided to call individuals I knew in the DSS to deal with him,” he said.

“He paid N680,000 for a chain valued N972,000, therefore I gathered five DSS officers and we went to his house, hauled him up, and transported him to their Osogbo command.”

“He was not taken into the command, they collected the money from him, I was in the car when they negotiated, I am not aware of what was demanded, but he paid N210,000 and I was given N15,000.

“The DSS operatives were also arrested but I don’t know why they were not paraded but I am sure they were arrested as well”.

The Commissioner of Police added that efforts are ongoing to bring the suspect’s cohort to book.
