Supol Ayeni, a police officer with the Ekiti State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) squad, was killed when his patrol van was crushed.
On Tuesday evening, the incident occurred on Federal Polytechnic’s Ado/Ijan Road.
According to SaharaReporters, RRS officers were chasing suspected fraudsters, often known as Yahoo guys, when they collided with a colleague on a motorcycle.
Supol Ayeni, a police officer from Odo Ado, was said to have died on the spot.
“He actually came home to eat; his wife owns a business in the polytechnic village around Aba Ebira.” The dead came to his wife’s shop to eat because there was a difficult location along the road, alongside the silo, so he came with one of his friends’ motorcycle. He was employed at Odo Ado, which is not far away.”
“The RRS operatives were chasing a Benz in two Hilux vehicles.” I’m not sure where they were chasing the guys from, but as they were about to pass the Benz, the dead, also known as Baba Ada, came from the opposite direction and was killed by one of the vehicles. He died on the spot, according to a source who spoke to newsmen.
The incidence was corroborated by a colleague of the deceased who spoke to reporters.
The RRS operatives involved have been identified and detained at the state headquarters, according to him.
“Yes, Supol Ayeni was killed by an RRS van. My brother, I’m still perplexed; this is someone I saw earlier today.”
