In the early hours of Monday, December 20, suspected armed robbers invaded the Polytechnic of Ibadan.
Mr Soladoye Adewole, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the attack took place around 12:30 a.m. at the polytechnic’s North campus.
During the raid, the thieves stormed the institution’s staff quarters and carried away items worth millions of naira, according to reports.
Mr Okedara Emmanuel, a lecturer in the Department of Biology, was hurt during the incident and was brought to the University College Hospital in Ibadan for treatment.
No one was killed, according to Adewole, and the lecturer is recovering from his bullet wounds.
The incident has been reported to the authorities, and security on campus has been increased, he added.
