Why I Beat Up My Female Lecturer – 400L UNILORIN Student Speaks

Salaudeen Waliu, also known as Captain Walz, a 400-level student at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), has spoken out about what led to the tragic occurrence in which he allegedly beat up a lecturer, Mrs Zakariyyah, to stupor after an altercation about his academics.

“Months before the last Thursday event, he was arrested and locked up for two months, hence warranting his inability to attend SIWES tasks,” Salaudeen Waliu stated to University Campus Journalists, UCJ-Ilorin.

He claimed to have gone to the female lecturer’s office to beg her to waive the necessary SIWES course that he had missed due to unforeseen circumstances, but he was always denied.

According to him, he went to Lagos for the first time to visit a friend, but was suspected of being a thief and arrested by the police, resulting in his two-month detention.

The 400-level student went on to tell Mrs Zakariyau about his heinous Lagos episode, but she refused to pardon him, saying he had no choice but to join the following set, which would mean an extra year.

He claimed that when he entered the lecturer’s office on that fateful Thursday, she ordered him out of her office.

He said;

”I got angry, I don’t know what came over me, I started arguing and she told me to leave her office, I told her if I don’t leave, what is she going to do?

“She then threw a mug at me which injured me and I started beating her,” he added.
