In attacks on certain communities in Sokoto State, at least 15 individuals have been slain.

Several women were also kidnapped during the latest attacks.

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said Gornyo and Illela were among the communities impacted by the violence.

“Let me start by condoling the people of Goronyo and Illela Local Government Areas over the past night attacks by bandits who killed 12 persons in Illela and three persons in Goronyo,” Tambuwal said while presenting his 2022 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly on Monday.

Security difficulties, according to the governor, were impeding their efforts to develop the state, but he assured that they would remain focused on ensuring the safety of people and property in the state.

Bello Isa Ambarura, a member of the state House of Assembly representing the Illela seat, told Daily Trust that robbers raided three communities in his region.

“It is, without a doubt, a disaster. God’s assistance is required in this situation. “We’ve turned to prayer,” he explained.

Runji, Kalmalo, and Munwadata are among the settlements assaulted by the marauders in Illela.

According to the member, the bandits also abducted several others.

The Chairman, Goronyo Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdulwahab Goronyo, said three persons were killed at a village called Kojiyo in the area.

He added that the bandits kidnapped three women in the area.
