As Glo sponsors Battle of the Year, N84m and other wonderful prizes are up for grabs.

Globacom is dangling N84 million in prize money and a chance to represent Nigeria on the worldwide stage in the world’s biggest hip-hop dance show, Glo Battle of the Year, which is sponsored by the digital solutions provider.

At a press conference held at Globacom’s corporate office in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Wednesday, Andre Beyers, the company’s communications director, unveiled details of the competition’s sponsorship.

He claimed that the show would provide Nigerian kids with limitless opportunity to follow their passions.

He stated below;

“In line with our commitment to promoting the Nigerian entertainment industry and youth talent development across the country, we are excited to unleash the unlimited potential of Nigerian dancers and provide the platform for them to showcase their abilities on the world stage,” 

The Battle of the Year is an annual international breakdancing competition that originated over 20 years ago in Germany and is commonly considered the World Cup of breakdancing. Regional qualifying tournaments take place all around the world, with the world championships often hosted in Germany.

Mr. Beyers added that the Glo Battle of the Year will be broadcast in thirteen parts spanning six states: Lagos, Kaduna, Benin, Port Harcourt, Enugu, and Abuja. He assured that the show would keep fans on the edge of their seats and hooked to their screens.

Local and worldwide dance legends such as Gidnasty (USA), Menno (Netherlands), Manuela (Germany), Nigeria’s Poco Lee, Pinky Debbie, Izzy Odigie, Big Flo, Maxbuck, Dunamis, Franc Okwara, JC Jedor, and Poxy (Cameroon) will serve as judges.

He asked interested dancers and dance groups to enter the competition at http://www.globotynigeria.com. Participants must submit a 30-second entry video, following which the best 20 entries in each category from each area will be chosen.

Jolomi Kendaboh, CEO of House of Royalty and Project Coordinator, addressed at the press conference and explained that Glo Battle of the Year is a warm-up for the annual International Battle of the Year breakdance competition.
