Tyga, an American rapper, has been arrested for allegedly abusing his ex-girlfriend, model Camaryn Swanson, in a domestic violence incident.
The 31-year-old rapper, whose real name is Michael Stevenson, turned himself in to the Hollywood station of the Los Angeles Police Department on Tuesday morning, October 12, according to public information officer Lizeth Lomeli.
Early Monday, officers were dispatched to the domestic violence incident, according to Lomeli.
According to a statement on the LAPD’s social media account, the “Taste” singer was arrested for felony domestic assault. An LAPD spokesman confirmed the tweet’s veracity to USA TODAY.
Stevenson was released after posting a $50,000 bond, jail records showed.
The arrest comes one day after Stevenson’s ex-girlfriend Camaryn Swanson shared photos of alleged abuse to her Instagram Story. Swanson wrote Monday she was “physically assaulted,” although she didn’t name Stevenson specifically.
LAPD would not confirm the parties involved in the alleged altercation with Stevenson.
“I’ve been emotionally, mentally and physically abused and I’m not hiding it anymore,” Swanson wrote alongside a photo of herself with a bruised eye. In another photo, she added, “I’m so embarrassed and ashamed it had to get to this but I have to stand up for myself.”
