Chris Eubank, a boxing legend, was mugged in London for his £400 Louis Vuitton bag.
When the ‘brazen’ mugger seized the brown designer clutch bag from his hands in Edgware Road, the former WBO middleweight and super-middleweight champion said he was left’stunned.’
The incident happened as he came out of a Barclays bank branch on Tuesday, October 12, according to the retired fighter and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star, 55.
‘I couldn’t believe it,’ Ms Eubank told the Evening Standard. I was taken aback. He couldn’t have known who I was if he hadn’t attempted it. He was just interested in the prize.
‘It was over in a flash, and he was sprinting down the road with a baton.’
Mr Eubank claimed that the ‘brazen’ yet ‘well-dressed’ thief sped away so quickly that he didn’t have time to pursue him. Instead, the retired boxer claimed he dashed back into the bank to report the mugging, which prompted the police to be dispatched.
‘It’s a sign of the times,’ he told the Evening Standard, ‘they don’t care about facing someone like me, therefore nobody is safe.’
Mr Eubank claims the bag holds personal value because he’s had it since 1992 and the French fashion label no longer produces it.
A bar of Waitrose Belgian chocolate with hazelnuts was also in the bag at the time, according to Mr Eubank.
