FG budgets N104m to fight fake news, hate speech, others

For its fight against fake news, hate speech, banditry, and other issues, the Federal Government has set aside N104,532,705.

According to Punch, the funds were included in President Buhari’s 2022 appropriation budget, which he presented to the National Assembly on Thursday, October 7.

According to the budget documents, N55,642,215 would be spent on a special enlightenment campaign on the government’s programs and policies, as well as a testimony series to assess the impact of government policies on the general public.

Advocacy against fake news, hate speech, farmer-herder confrontations, banditry, rape, and other forms of violence.

In addition, the budget stipulated that N48,890,490 would be used for quarterly interactions with foremen.
