Moment police officer pulled his colleague out of harm’s way before an accident

On October 3, police in Gate City, Virginia, released video of a police officer pulling his colleague away from an out-of-control automobile.

According to the Gate City Police Department, Officer Jessica McGraw was conducting an accident investigation on Highway 23 when she was joined by Officer Matthew Stewart.

When a driver of a white automobile lost control and crossed the median, the two officers can be seen conversing on the side of the road.

Officer McGraw’s patrol car is struck by the white vehicle, which whips it towards the two policemen. Officer Matthew Stewart was able to pull her out of harm’s way, preventing serious injury.

“Officer Stewart caught a glimpse of the vehicle coming towards them and was able to react within a moment’s notice to grab McGraw and pull her out of the path of the spinning patrol car,” Chief of Police Justin Miller said.

Besides a minor leg injury sustained by Officer Stewart, the pair emerged unharmed.
