On Monday, a Department of State Services (DSS) security official was assassinated in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
The incident occurred less than 48 hours after the agency’s offices in Nnewi, Anambra State, were destroyed.
According to our sources, the officer, Prince Nwachinaemere Ezemuonye Ozuzu of Umuoyo, Irete in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, was shot and killed by unknown gunmen on the Owerri-Onitsha route on Monday.
The officer was alleged to have been dispatched to Anambra for official assignment just hours after the DSS headquarters in Nnewi was set ablaze.
He was said to have been murdered on his way back to his station.
Another story claimed that he was killed in an unintentional discharge from the gun of one of his teammates with whom he was on a combined task force returning to Owerri.
Deacon Daniel Opara, one of his cousins who corroborated the occurrence, called it as unfortunate.
“We are still waiting for the specifics of what transpired,” he added, adding that it was alleged that he was killed by an accidental fire from the gun of a police officer with whom he was on a mission in Anambra State.
“The family is suspecting foul play as he was said to have been recently promoted.”
