Police have arrested an official from the Abia State Rubbish Management Department for allegedly killing a minor over waste disposal.
Following the murder of a 17-year-old kid, a waste management employee working for the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA, has been detained.
Mr Okeugo Ugoing to is accused of killing Daniel Ogbonna outside a garbage can on Asa Road in Aba, Abia State.
Ogbonna, who lived at No. 36 St. Michael’s Road, allegedly went to the receptacle to dispose of his trash at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, but the receptacle was full.
He followed in the footsteps of many who had gone before him and disposed of their trash behind the receptacle.
Another member of staff, known only as Biggy, is said to have requested Ugoing to to arrest the victim for dumping his trash outside the receptacle.
Ugoing to allegedly pursued the youngster, dragged him back, and struck him, knocking Ogbonna to the road’s tarred surface, where he died instantly.
When Biggy and the other workers realized the youngster had dead, they attempted to flee the scene. Biggy was able to flee, but Ugoing to was arrested and given over to the police by locals.
While Ugoing to has been apprehended, the search for Biggy continues.
