A 6-year-old girl was crushed when a marble fireplace fell on her as she was playing at home.

The moment his little girl was killed by a large concrete and marble fireplace that crashed on her bicycle while she was playing at home has been narrated by a distressed father.

Alexa-Leigh Blakemore, six, is in a critical but stable condition at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital following significant head injuries that included a fractured skull and brain hemorrhaging.

After the accident, which occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday September 10, father Keiran Blakemore and mother Elle Williams say their daughter’s condition is “touch and go.”

The two share a home in Liverpool that they have rented privately. They claim they had been pestering their landlord for repairs and want to warn others about the dangers of heavy fireplaces.

The fireplace is thought to have collapsed due to cracking plaster.

“I was lying on the couch feeding our five-week-old daughter while her mother was in the bath,” Keiran told the Liverpool Echo.
