A 23-year-old Auchi poly student allegedly commits suicide, wills his mobile phone to girlfriend

Solomon Oboh, a 23-year-old Auchi Polytechnic student, is said to have committed suicide.

On Friday night, September 10, the National Diploma 1 student of Public Administration was discovered dangling from the ceiling of his room.

According to Punch, the student wrote a suicide note instructing that his phone be delivered to his girlfriend and classmate, Sandra, whom he asked for forgiveness in the note.

It was learned that earlier that day, the deceased was embarrassed by his failure to accurately spell the words “computer technology” in front of his peers.

According to Punch, the student wrote a suicide note instructing that his phone be delivered to his girlfriend and classmate, Sandra, whom he asked for forgiveness in the note.

It was learned that earlier that day, the deceased was embarrassed by his failure to accurately spell the words “computer technology” in front of his coursemate.

“Solomon was in class on Friday and left for home after class, we only came home later in the evening to find him dangling in the ceiling of his room at Bawack area of South Ibie,” a source told the publication.


“He was a very quiet boy who took his academics very serious. He doesn’t go out and never showed any sign of depression or whatsoever,”  the source added. 

The polytechnic spokesman, Mr. Mustapha Oshiobugie, who confirmed the incident, said he was yet to be briefed on the details.
