Bandits Attack Zamfara Police Station, Kill Policeman, Local Vigilante

In the early hours of Friday, suspected bandits assaulted Nahuche district in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

A mobile police officer and a local vigilante leader, according to an eyewitness, Malan Abubakar, were among those killed.

During the operation, the bandits kidnapped two ladies and two males, he said.

The robbers first raided a neighbouring Nahuche community named Gidan Jan Bula, according to Malan Abubakar, and used motorcycles to assassinate the village’s vigilante leader after he fought them.

He added, “They also took away my wife and moved her for imprisonment.”

He claimed that the bandits then stormed the Nahuche police station, where they fought mobile police officers in a gunfight, killing one of them.

The bandits then moved on to the house of Alhaji Makwashe Nhuche, a businessman, where they abducted two more people, including a woman, according to Abubakar.

According to him, the bandits arrived around 3:00a.m. on Friday and left around 4:00a.m.

SP Shehu Muhammad, the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, could not be located for comment after his phones were shut off when contacted for confirmation.

According to report, the command frequently ignores calls from journalists seeking confirmation of bandit attacks.
